Nicole Hightower

Nicole was first introduced to hot yoga in May 2009 by a friend who invited her to a class. It was not only her first hot yoga class but her first yoga class in general. Immediately, yoga became a big part of her life and her livelihood. Prior to practicing yoga, Nicole was a pilates student for years and an avid runner. However, she had not yet found her true passion until she found yoga. After attending a workshop by Jimmy Barkan in January 2010, Nicole was inspired to pursue her passion even further by signing up for the Barkan Method Hot Yoga Teacher Training. She completed her level one 200 hour teacher training in July 2010 and her level 2 training in April 2011. Nicole has a background in education and enjoys the teaching aspect just as much as the practice of yoga. She is excited to join the SWEAT family!



Nicole Hightower instructs the following:
  • Flow 60
  • In a flow class, postures are strung together in multiple series. As the name suggests, a practitioner can expect to “flow” from one posture to the next in this style of class, synchronizing the breath with the movement. The pace of this class is generally quicker than a static sequence, leaving less time for focus on form and alignment, but providing a vigorous cardiovascular workout. Expect up-tempo music and a more playful atmosphere. Generally, this wouldn’t be the best choice for your first yoga class, but new practitioners are always welcome. This is a great complement to a static practice because it offers variety in addition to greater focus on upper-body and core work. In the 60-minute version, expect to be on your feet almost the entire time. The 90-minute version will include a floor series. Environment – 98.6 degrees/70% humidity

  • Static 60
  • In a static class, you will experience a series of postures performed individually with a short pause in between each pose. This class can be a vigorous and well-rounded workout, but is also very appropriate for beginners. It will provide both the new and advanced practitioners with a solid foundation that is useful in other classes offered at SWEAT. Expect a lot of feedback on proper form and alignment. Approximately 2/3 of each class will consist of standing poses, with the remaining 1/3 of class being spent on the floor. Environment – 98.6 degrees/70% humidity

  • Friday Night FUNdraiser
  • Once each month, we will come together on a Friday evening to practice together with added purpose, raising funds, goods, and awareness for various charities that are dear to our SWEATy family. This is a donation-based, one hour FUN, funky, and themed flow.

    June's Friday Night FUNdraiser will be taught by Nicole Hightower and will support The Brain Support Network (BSN). Brain Support Network (BSN) is a non-profit charity focused on brain research for many neurological disorders, including frontotemporal dementia (the second most common dementia among those under 65 years old), Lewy body dementia, Parkinson's Disease, and Alzheimer's Disease. BSN has helped over 400 families with FTD and other disorders around the US with brain donation. The only way to confirm a neurological diagnosis is via brain donation. And this precious tissue enables research into the causes, treatment, and cures for neurodegenerative disorders.
