Monica Coshenet

Monica has been a fitness junkie for her entire life, always finding new classes or sports to give her that wonderful endorphin high. And that’s exactly how she got hooked at SWEAT, falling in love with the hot room and the challenging classes! Although she first began her hot yoga practice in 2008, she only found consistency with it when she started attending SWEAT in 2013. Monica initially only sought out the physical aspect of hot yoga but has since realized the profound benefits it’s had on her mental and emotional health as well. Because of that, she was eager to join SWEAT’s yoga teacher training despite having just given birth to her first child, Opal! Although teaching at SWEAT has always been part of her goal, she also hopes to use her training in yoga and her background as an Occupational Therapist to make yoga accessible to all people despite any physical or cognitive challenges that they may have. Bottom line is, Monica is beyond excited to be a part of the SWEAT family and the yoga community!


Monica Coshenet instructs the following:
  • Flow 60
  • In a flow class, postures are strung together in multiple series. As the name suggests, a practitioner can expect to “flow” from one posture to the next in this style of class, synchronizing the breath with the movement. The pace of this class is generally quicker than a static sequence, leaving less time for focus on form and alignment, but providing a vigorous cardiovascular workout. Expect up-tempo music and a more playful atmosphere. Generally, this wouldn’t be the best choice for your first yoga class, but new practitioners are always welcome. This is a great complement to a static practice because it offers variety in addition to greater focus on upper-body and core work. In the 60-minute version, expect to be on your feet almost the entire time. The 90-minute version will include a floor series. Environment – 98.6 degrees/70% humidity

  • Static 60
  • In a static class, you will experience a series of postures performed individually with a short pause in between each pose. This class can be a vigorous and well-rounded workout, but is also very appropriate for beginners. It will provide both the new and advanced practitioners with a solid foundation that is useful in other classes offered at SWEAT. Expect a lot of feedback on proper form and alignment. Approximately 2/3 of each class will consist of standing poses, with the remaining 1/3 of class being spent on the floor. Environment – 98.6 degrees/70% humidity
